A Live Activity isn’t a notification you dismiss — it’s a card that stays on the lock screen and rewrites itself as the job moves. It changes shape three times over a single call, and it ends on its own when the work is complete.
In the Dynamic Island
On iPhone models with a Dynamic Island, the same activity lives in the pill at the top of the screen — compact while they use other apps, expanded on a long press.
Push-driven, not background
Updates arrive over the same push channel that already delivers job notifications. The app isn’t running in the background, and the battery doesn’t pay for the convenience.
It cleans up after itself
Completing the job ends the activity. No stale card sitting on the lock screen at dinner, no swipe-to-dismiss chore at the end of a shift.

Only the job actually in play gets an activity. The rest of the day stays in the widgets, so the lock screen never turns into a second inbox.

Small, medium, and large on the home screen; circular and inline on the lock screen. Techs arrange their phone how they like it — we just fit the space they give us.
Both platforms, with one honest asterisk
Widgets and live job updates ship on iPhone and Android alike. The one genuine difference is hardware: the Dynamic Island is an iPhone feature, so Android renders the same live information the way Android does it.
On iPhone
Live Activities on the lock screen, the Dynamic Island on models that have one, lock screen widgets in circular and inline shapes, and Home Screen widgets in small, medium, and large with interactive quick actions.
On Android
The same Next Job and Today at a Glance widgets on the home screen, with the same quick actions. Live job updates — the ETA countdown and the on-site timer — arrive as an ongoing notification, Android’s native equivalent of a Live Activity. There is no Dynamic Island on Android hardware.
Driving? The dash takes over. While the truck is moving, the same job lives on CarPlay and Android Auto — then hands back to the lock screen for the walk up to the door.
